"We invited representatives from Laboga Amplifiers to The Rasmus sound check as we were playing a show in Warsaw, venue called Stodola. After we finished the sound check, we arranged to do a A/B test of Way of sound cables. We used electric guitar, electric bass, electro-acoustic guitar and acoustic bass.
At first I wasn't sure if i could hear difference between the cables, which was our other option in the test. Then we switched our monitoring for a headphone amplifier with a pair of studio reference headphones, and the difference became more audible.
I realized that the Way of sound cable actually seems to present wider range of dynamics, especially in the higher frequencies. The difference was a small one to my ears, but i must say that the small difference was for the better for the Way of sound cable.
To describe a sound is always kind of challenge, but I'd say Way of sound was more three dimensional: the sound was very present in the louder accents of playing, and the quieter accents felt like being further in the sound space, thus creating a deeper feeling of space in the music. Also i felt that Way of sound carried the lower frequencies in clearer, more lively way.
Sometimes I've heard some sound engineers describing a sound or piece equipment they use being more 3-dimensional, and in this test I understood how it sounds in practical. I found this A/B test very interesting one, and actually i was very surprised that I could hear any difference between instrument cables. After the test we decided with our guitar tech that we will change all our instrument cable connections to Way of sound cables.
